'Omnia vinci amore; et nos cedamus Amore'
(Love conquers all; let us also be conquered by love)
By
Rachael
The sun sets with majestic show
and clouds of silver, copper and gold
the sky ablaze with purple and rose
fades to ashes and sparks alone
This night to fill my destiny
I journey to my enemy
over a bridge of crumpled stone
past a cairn for soldiers bones
to a cliff and turquoise pool
fed by cascade green and blue
up a cliff on wings of white
flew to cold and lonely heights
charred to black by dragon's fire
was to many a funeral pyre
My quest continued to the cave
where slept the thieving golden slave
whose greed, like a gilded chain
bound him to the earth in pain
my mission was to set him free
by death or any other means
for many thought the world would be
best without the likes of he
Into the cavern, dark as night
without the benefit of light
towards the cold and pale glow
every dragon's scales show
forward, then, into the fray
pray you'll see another day
He barely stirred as I approached,
but when I touched the gold he woke
he looked at me with emerald eye
and said "Fair maiden, you will die"
I replied ' Sir dragon, know,
there's more to me than what I show'
He said "Your looks mean naught to me,
I've eaten prettier than thee.
go back then to thy pots and pans
thy scullery and stable hands"
'Is this anger that I see?
I thought emotion pain to thee'
He said to me "Aye, that is true,
I don't see what it means to you"
There was a strange look in his eye
I thought I heard the dragon sigh
'Tell me what in her you saw,
was she fair of tooth and claw?
Were her scales brighter than thine,
did she possess a clever mind?'
"Aye, she was all that and more,
now forever I am poor
for without thinking, I then chose
over her, this hoard of gold"
For a moment I could see,
rolling down his scaly cheek,
a single, precious, dragon tear
that the golden chain did sear
and so, set the dragon free
The moral of this story be
for then, and now, and evermore
"**Omnia vinci amore;
et nos cedumus amore"

Dragons
By
George W. Link
A Dragon is a special thing, unique to its creator,
Some look like a serpent or a toothy alligator.
Some have tails and wings and horns, while others none at all,
Some are absolutely huge, while others very small.
I think that each displays a certain person's point of view,
And what each means is something that's completely up to you.

The Enchanter
By
Kaza
In days long gone - out of memory's reach
The Enchanter his acolytes did teach
He taught of powers and of fire
He taught of love and man's desire
He taught of pain and taught of greed
He taught of fear and taught of need.
And when he'd done with sharing all
a student asked about the fall.
Five thousand years and some ago
the dragons lived, for it is so
written in the books of lore..
in a time long gone before.
And man was growing in the land
becoming like the desert sand.
Wherever dragons had their home
man was fearful there to roam.
But as their number grew in count
man's strength and fearlessnes did mount.
Often men did they venture far
to kill a dragon - called it war.
Until the dragons knew the day
had come. No other way
but to put a fearful end
to the slaught'ring bands of men.
Then followed war which scorched the lands
and put a stop to slaught'ring bands.
And after all was said and done
man retreated - no battle won.
Few dragons in the world remained
with death and turmoil - what was gained?
Leaving with remaining kin
the dragons were not seen again.
For deep within the mountain caves
the dragons chanted over graves
and took on them the forms of men
that slaughter would not rise again.
Enchanters know that from that day
the fire's within: the enchanters say.
For if you have the power within
then you're born from Dragon kin.

DragonFlight
By Shauna Meyer
The greatest way to see the world would be
Astride a dragon flying fast and high.
Just take a moment - picture it with me,
And think about how it would be to fly.
His wings beat through the air with pow’r and might,
We dip and turn and swirl up in the sky,
The thrill of soaring fills me with delight,
I wish this feeling didn’t ever die.
My dragon friend is powerful and strong,
His wine-red hide shines golden in the sun,
And when we fly together I belong
To him, and him to me, and we are one.
The world is such a grand and wondrous thing,
When carried through the clouds by dragon wings.

The End of the Dragons
By
David Bankson
Teeth of silver, talons of gold,
Dragons did live in the days of old
They flew where they like, they ate what they wanted,
Like dwarves and elves, and the humans they taunted,
They ate more than that, they ate many more,
And if it got in its way, they'd chew up a door!
But one starry night, a man got fed up,
He pulled out a dagger, and held his sword up,
He yelled into the air, "I will succeed,
I will kill the last of them, if it's what the world needs!"
So every day of his life, he slew the deadly beasts,
He did what was best, what he thought, at least.
Till finally one was left, he found him by a hill,
He was standing all alone, standing very still.
And finally one spoke to a human that day.
He said, "My time is over, I shall die anyway.
I am very old, and these bones are weak.
My skin is very feeble, My wings are no more sleek.
So don't worry about me, I'm dying as I speak.
My heart is failing me, and broken is my beak."
"Sorry to hear that," said the warrior to he.
"I shall go home now, and my family I shall see.
I'll tell them that they're gone, that I have killed the last.
And I can die in peace, now that dragons are the past.

Dragons In Flight
By
David Bankson
Death draws near,
The heat gives hint,
Fire, acid, spewing forth,
Dragons have been sent.
Wings of silk,
Flapping in the breeze,
And with the flick of the wrist,
They kill with great ease.
Dragons in flight,
With Death on their minds,
Blood rushing through their veins,
And shining in their eyes.
They have blood on their claws,
And blood on their breath,
But guilt they have not,
Because they love death.
So fear their approach,
Hide in the night,
And always respect,
The dragons in flight

The Dragon's Feast
By
David Bankson
See the shadow of the dragon on the moon at night
See the little people running for their lives in fright
The angels of grace thinking only of gore
They’ll eat all the cattle just to have a little more
The glistening eyes from the demons of the sky
They can hypnotize the soul, but nobody knows why
Telepathic powers and strength of the gods
Gives them an advantage that beats all the odds
Elves and orks and humans alike
All have a fear of the dragon’s great bite
And nobody dares to fight the great creature
For there’s something to fear of its every little feature
As the moon wanes away and readies the morn
The dragons sees his body fully adorned
The blood of his victims glistens in the morning sun
And the dragon knows his feasting for that night is done.

Night for all Dragons
By
Dragon Lover/ DragonMoon (Domie)
Sitting on my bed,
A dragon in my heart,
Waiting for nightfall,
Waiting for dark.
So my soul can be free,
So I can fly,
And join the other dragons,
In the sky.
Flying between clouds,
Weaving through stars,
Over the moon,
Distracting the cars.
High in the sky,
Without a care,
Ignoring the people,
Who sit there and stare.
Our minds are free,
Our nostrils flared,
Our souls are open,
Ready to be shared.
A night for a partener,
A night above earth,
A night for love,
And dragons to birth.
This one night for us,
To die and then live,
To hurt and then heal,
To take and then give.
After this night,
A year to wait,
Till we can live,
Till we can face fate.
This is the night,
For dragons to rule,
To dance in the sky,
And swim in the deep, dark pool.
This is why I wait,
A dragon in my heart,
Waiting for night fall,
Waiting till dark.

THE DRAGON
By
Lyle Nelson
I SEE THE DRAGON IN THE SKY
OH NO DOES HE SEE ME
I LOOK AROUND FOR SHELTER
AND SEE A FALLEN TREE
I DON'T WANT TO STAY
AND BE A MEAL
BURNS ARE A PAIN
I DON'T WANT TO FEEL
AS I BEGAN TO THINK
THAT I MIGHT DIE
I BECAME VERY SCARED
AND STARTED TO CRY
THE DRAGON HEARD ME
AND FLOATED DOWN
AND ON HIS FACE
WAS A GREAT BIG FROWN
HE SAID TO ME
HE DOESN'T LIKE TO KILL
AND HE LIVES IN A CAVE
IN A GREAT BIG HILL
WE BECAME GOOD FRIENDS
HIM AND I
WE NEVER TOLD
EACH OTHER A LIE
ALL BECAUSE I BEGAN TO CRY
WHEN I SAW A DRAGON
IN THE SKY

What a Dragon Might Do
By
Chris
A long time ago, way down by the bay
On an ancient island a Dragon lay
His muscles relaxed and strength magnified
His jeweled body glistened as it lay in the tide
He saw, though it was dark, through the corner of his eye
A knight on his sturdy steed, the Dragon took to the sky
The air was thick with smoke from the dragon's fire
Having the dragon dead was the knight's greatest desire
An arrow struck the Dragon! He made an awful sound
As he dropped from the sky, plummeting to the ground
The splash was tremendous, the noise was so loud
As the knight rode off feeling so very proud
But this was a trick, everyone was fool
In this land where the dragons ruled
That dragon lived and may be alive today
But if you ever see one, remember: keep at bay
For if you see one, he'll definitely see you
And you never can tell what a dragon might do

Dragonfire
By
Claire Dawson
It burns in my heart
My eyes weep it at night,
I wake with a start,
Yearning for the sight,
of.....Dragonfire
"Myth",all others say,
I'm a foolish, silly child,
All I do is pray,
For a glimpse, of true, pure, wild...
Dragonfire
I walk alone and cry,
It haunts each and every dream,
I cannot help but try,
To reach out for a stream
of...Dragonfire
Why can't I see it?
I hope, and watch, and pray,
If it's false, so be it...
but burn my dreams away

Ssssssh Dragons!
By
John Dyer
Watch, as tides of time control the very lands upon which we stand.
Mercilessly hurling every minute at our ever ageing era.
Forging our destiny with its very own waste...............This volatile mass.
Forever changing, re-using, re-building, re-creating.
Power Unsurpassed.
But in its playthings, upon which we stand, deep in the very corners of everything nature calls sacred.
Echoing deep, Roaming free, Learning and understanding.
A strain? A belief? - the roaming of a disillusioned spirit - a creation? Too complex to understand, or bear, rejected by many, but, feared by all. But use your senses, if only to stand, open your mind and your forbidden power.
Call upon your ancient powers and listen, Listen,
Sssssh Dragons!
Roaming in the very depths of life, creatures so magnificent, so powerful, that we can only dismiss their very existence.
A lot of superstitious hocus-pocus, things to frighten the children. No!
For they just watch, from every corner, from every thought, from every passing moment, listening, understanding, waiting to guide, to control............Being used as weapons with which mankind can destroy itself.
Sssssh Dragons!
The Wheel, the cart, the bike, the car, the plane, the rocket, the nuke......................(leor) The mugger, the rapist, the robber, the politician
Hey You! Sitting there, looking lost, reach out and learn - walk around this vast empire, see for yourself, the waves, the sea, the rocks...............
The very elixir of life....
The Dragons breath!
It cant be caught or sold, it cant be seen or heard, but its there..................................
Sssssh Dragons!
And as the seas boil, and the land retreats, the people go, the gods reclaim what is rightly theirs, except ...................(Listen...!)
Their time is coming, the earth is heaving its thunderous shoulders from the water - and shaking the very foundations upon which we built ours. Listen!
Use the power wisely, stand firm from a seemingly sound illusion, learn the knowledge, have the power, - Immortalise Merlin!!!!
Reincarnate the faith, liberate the mind from its dream boredom, grasp the power. And once again walk with the dragon, And not against him!
Sssssh Dragons!!

Dragon Dreams
By
Julie Phelps
There is something about dragons
all fire and steam
They go together in the midst of our dreams
The dragon is wise beyond it's years
It sets no limits and faces all fears
The dragon is powerful in body and mind
Is true to it's heart and true to it's kind
The dragon is just and fights for what's right
To all who encounter it, their lives are made bright
The traits of the dragon we should all embrace
And toghether we'll make this world a better place!

The Ride
By
Julia Millsap
Some may tell you a tale of the longest
time when dragons roamed the sky and earth. Little do they know a time in which, dragons ruled our hearts. Only, but a dream it seems falling in love with a dragon, some called it only a tale of two star crossed lovers looking at each other from far away, but one fell love with a dragon. Many a time did they ride on the wind, her on his back, feeling the wind wip around her. "Have you seen the moon this close before" he aksed her a top the highest point. " No never like this" she said in reply to his heart felt delight, it seemed for a short time they sat there looking at the moon and stars, counting each time a shooting star feel and the wish two lovers just like them were making that night. Time seemed so far away for them. Soon she feel asleep on his back, hearing her breath it remined him of how it felt to have someone to love. As with all stories of the heart, this one two did not last. Love may conqure all they say, but for these two lovers of the heart, nothing ha!
s wither away. Her father found her the next day asleep on her lovers back and without a thought killed his daughter's lover, in her agony she cried and killed herself or so they say, still more say she was turned into that which she loved, some will say she flyes by the night, a little one on her back, testing the wind to fly.So long ago it might seem, when two lovers look at the moon, but if you look sky ward you can see, her flying or else her child's child testing the wind.

Why Dragons No Longer Rule The Skies
By
Christine Doty
A large dragon stood before me
With a twinkle in his eyes
He said," I’m here to tell you
Why dragons no longer rule the skies."
"I am the last one left," he said.
"All the rest of us are dead.
Men have killed us and put our teeth on a shield.
I only wish they would yield."
"I will tell this story to you
Before they kill me too.
They search for me both day and night,
But I am sure I am out of sight."
"I helped a human out long ago.
When he had been shot through the heart
With an arrow from a golden bow."
"He was the only human I could trust,
But he has been overcome with lust.
Now he hunts me too, I fear.
I can no longer live here."
A slayer came in the mouth of the cave
And with a spear pointed at the dragon,
A great heave he gave.
The arrow pierced the dragon’s heart
And he said to me before he lay down to die,
"Now, you can tell your children and grandchildren,
As you look into their eyes,
Why dragons no longer rule the skies."

Beleiver
By
Christine Doty
I'm sorry I told them
The secret you told me
Even though you told it to me in trust,
I cannot escape the spear that you thrust.
Dragons are extinct
So, why do you believe
That they fly through the skies
When our gazes leave.
"All dragons are dead
There are no more," I said.
There are no dragons here anymore
Then someone knocked on the door.
I go to see who it is.
A golden dragon stands behind the door
"You think dragons don't exist,"he said.
"As you can see, I am not dead.
You give me a glance.
It says," I told you so."
So, I guess I'll just go.
Now, I believe that dragons exist.
I'm sorry I tried to resist.
I now know why you believe.
I new belief I will now conceive.

Dragon Call
By
Ann Cline
Some great beast came down to me
And truth did he outpour.
A story that most see as myth
From ancient days of yore.
Though they are great and fierce in sight
The dragon is still tame.
And the gentle nature of the beast
Bears no reverence to it's name.
Father Dragon is a mighty one,
Who could be friend or foe.
But our mind is prejudice
To what it does not know.
Guardians born into the night,
They'll forever be.
Standing atop a mountain, perched,
Watching over you and me.
Into the sky they do fly,
With grace pulled from the night.
And soar like angels through the air,
Projecting heavenly light.
But still we fear the gentle one,
Father Dragon told me so.
For our fear leads us to hate
The things we do not know.
But my eyes have seen the truth,
So, I tell you all.
Do not fear your guardian,
Instead..., Head the Dragon's Call

On wings of thunder
Honor bound
Search me out, I drum the sound
Twist and turn in the night
Dragon come, my guiding light.
Protector, guardian, friend not foe
Come to me, see my sigil glow.

I beckon thee, keep me from harm.
Around and about your magick swirls
Come to me, your wings unfurled.

Dragon Dreams of Dripping Drool
Lost in a World of Woe
Brilliant Wings of Black and Brown
Caress the Crimson Flow
High above the Horrid Hills
He Sees with Dragon Sight
The Metal Mines of Men, You See,
Their Fending Off the Fight
Dragon, Dragon, Dip, and Dive
To Help with Heaven's Hand
or the World of Men won't Walk No More
They Need your Necro-Stand
Fire Flares from Dripping Fangs
and Wipes Out all the Weak
The Strong Still Stand as Still as Stones
Their Pikes Raised at Their Peck
Whip and Whirl, Strike with Wrath
Known Men Fall to Their Knees
Forgotten War left a Far

Darker Roads, the Shadows Please
Far Behind the Fellows Knees
Such a Loss; Forsaken Name
Many Slew From Where He Came
Bloody Prints Behind His Heels
No One Knows What He Feels
Weapon of Choice; The Blinding Blade
What he Left Will Slowly Fade
All He Slew; Women and Kid
Understood What He Did
Dropped His Dreams to Take This Quest
What He Thought Would be Best
Many Seas Have Known his Name
In Lots of Worlds, He is the Same
Hate to Him is But a Breed
Of Everything, He Has a Need
He Chose This Road as Part of the Pact
Too Many Deaths for Him to Act
Silver Light Shows the Way
Of the Rest He Must Slay
Lost in Dreams of Death Complete

Dragons In The Sky
By
Elcat
Dragons in the northern sky,
Ice and blizzards drawing nigh.
Standing still with patience great,
To find out the perfect mate.
Freezing with and icey stare,
A blast of power from their lair.
Stars shining from up high,
Lettting their power loose to fly,
Crushing down the mightiest foes,
Delivering the most powerful blows.
Dragons in the eastern sky,
Smoke and shadows flying by.
Stealth and speed is their way,
To fly away from the day.
The moon, their power, shining down,
Speeding the rain to the ground.
Biting with their powerful jaws,
And slashing with their mighty claws.
They seek the ground and hide in caves,
To sleep away the pressence of day.
Dragons in the southern sky,
Raging fire they cause to fly.
Burning strength is their forte,
With all the earth they do play.
Tornado's they beat, with powerful wings,
Blowing away both paupers and kings.
A toothy grin they smile at last,
When their prey is in their clasp.
They love to run and play games,
But are far from being tame.
Dragons in the western sky,
Light and fire, flying high.
Flying through with speed and strength,
Gathering in the morning length.
The moon shines bright, but brighter still,
Is that yellow firery wheel.
It adorns the sky with yellow gold,
Which seems to peace and presence hold,
And while the dragons fly it past
Their power grows, and grows fast.
Dragons flying in the sky,
Some are raging, some silently lie.
Power raging from wind beats and fiery blasts,
To icy blizzards and even the stars at last.
Some hide from the sun's golden light,
And fly only in the darkness of night.
Some choose only the icy lands,
While others prefer the fiery sands.
Dragons flying with their might,
Fire, ice, dark, and light.

The Myth of the Earth and Sky Masters
By
Elcat
In the mountains, close to the stars,
On the plains, where the wind blows far,
Under the oceans, power unknown,
Where the forces of nature are grown.
Flying free, in the blue sky,
In gray caves going to lie,
Red flames they breathe, burrning hot
Gold ones are friendly, Black ones are not.
All are different, none are the same,
Some take life seriously, to others its a game.
Some fly playfuly in the sky,
Others show their strength, speeding by.
When battle rages through the earth,
Causing fires and quelching mirth.
Dragons do not shun the fight,
But gather together in mighty flight.
Like other creatures, they choose sides,
And some even choose to hide,
They blast their enemy with ice and fires,
With wind and light and darkening pires.
Their powers are used in many ways,
By many people, for many plays,
But they are the masters of eath and the sky,
Of the waters depths, and even the stars up high
Noone controls them, though many have tried,
To tie them up with a harness and try to ride.
To master their flight, to quelch their fire,
No one has reached this desire.
They still remain, to this day,
Though they keep themselves hid away.
To keep their powers away from man,
Lest the whole world be a deserted land.
They are in the sun, the moon, and the stars,
They are in the water flowing far.
They are in the mountains, the forrest, the fires hot,
They are in the shadows standing watch.

Natae' Shuu La'ree
By
Elcat
The war had lasted way to long,
Destrucion in the wake of day,
The cry of death echoing in song,
And noone seeing another way.
No buildings remained, no empire could last,
So many people tried to stand
But pain was everywhere, and death came fast.
They all failed in the end.
From in the midst of the war,
Flying high for all to see,
Was born that day the lore,
Of Naltea` Shuu La`ree.
Into the middle of the battle,
A dragon flew, with strength and speed,
Golden highlights, and in the saddle,
Sat Naltea` Shuu La`ree.
Holding high her staff of power,
Shouting loud her battle cry,
And her dragon flying over,
The whole scene in his eye.
From the clouds that gave cover,
An echo of power that none could see,
Hundreds of more dragons all flew over,
Commanded by Naltea` Shuu La`ree
The army could not withstand them,
And the gernerals could not out think
As the dragons flew down upon them,
And wiped them out in a blink.
Noone could withstand the power,
Of Naltea` Shuu La`ree,
As she knocked down every tower,
And every building that could be seen.
The battle was quickly over,
As the dragons showed their might,
And flew back into the cover,
Blocking out the suns light.
All the dragons she commanded
Left the scene they had made,
And the survivors were glad they hadn't landed
As in the cloud their image did fade.
In every battle around the world,
In which the war was being fought,
Came the same clouded whirl,
Bringing the peace that was sought.
When the war was finely finished,
And no more dragons could be seen,
Peace was finalley pushed,
All thanks to Naltea` Shuu La`ree.
Not to many knew the story,
So the legend was told around
By thoses few who had seen the glory
Who were left there on the ground.
All in shock at what they saw,
Knowing noone would believe,
Of the power that there was,
And in Naltae` Shuu La`ree.

A Dragon's Tale
By
Andrea Perez Garza
In the darkness of my world I sit atop my mountain,
To watch the silvery flow of the wine in my fountain,
Even in the darkest night,
I still relish with magnificent sight,
Perched upon the very tip,
Waiting for Greed to take a sip,
Throughout the ages and since the beginning of time,
I've been the keeper of the forbidden wine,
Wine that was made from the blood of my kin,
Who died in the battles of the immortal's sin,
My kin and myself fought with the brave,
Dieing for the children we wanted to save,
Our lives we lost as our blood soaked the ground,
The bugle of the dead, the only sound,
Those who lived collected the dead,
Along with the earth that was then blood red,
Manufactured by the love for the many,
So throughout time there would always be plenty,
Greed is a plague that desires my wine,
He scales the sides of my precious vines,
He desecrates and humiliates the blood of my tribe,
An endless act of hatered I fail to describe,
So I sit and wait perched upon the brow of my mountain,
Tempting Greed to drink from my fountain,
And when He comes I shall spread my wings,
And the last sounds heard will be his gurgling screams,
Only my blood can give you a life refined,
My blood has the power to make you divine,
But only the chosen may drink from my spring,
Only I can choose for I am the queen,
Let Greed come and attempt to take,
The blood of my kin now that's a mistake,
I will show,
What so many know,
That my biggest thrill,
Is for a bloody kill,
Blood tastes good with a side of flesh,
I love my kills bloody and fresh,
I love to hear the sound of my claws,
Ripping away the meat from Greed's jaws,
There's nothing better then killing Greed,
Burying Him deep underneath the rag weed,
My fire within calls to me,
Begging to kill our old enemy,
Begging to vanquish Him for all eternity,
I will burn, twist, and turn,
Until the enemy does not return,
For I am the mountain queen,
The dragon of all the unforeseen,
Gliding in the wind on the power of my wings,
Listening to the birds in the midmorning Spring,
Killing the Greed born in all of God's things,
I am the Dragon Queen.
